Visit Hawaii’s natural beauty without paying a fortune

The best parks in Hawaii

Hawaii can be an expensive state to explore. But our many state and local parks are an affordable way to get out and enjoy all of the natural beauty that our amazing state has to offer. Here are our picks for the top three parks in Hawaii.

Nu’uanu Pali State Park

This Oahu park has an amazing overlook which offers an expansive view of Kailua and the Ko’olau Mountains, which makes it one of the most popular parks in Hawaii. There is also a lot of fascinating history behind the park, but let’s be honest, most people come here for the view.

Wailua River State Park

Kauai’s most popular park, Wailua River is famous for its Fern Grotto, although the grotto was severely damaged during the storms of 2006. It’s still well worth the trip, though, from the tour boat cruise of the river, to the incredible scenery and wildlife viewing in the area.

Waimea Canyon State Park

Known as “the Grand Canyon of the Pacific,” this amazing park features canyons, waterfalls, a winding river, helicopter tours, and hiking trails aplenty.
